Data Protection and Privacy Policy

By joining the British Association for Modernist Studies, you have actively “opted in” to receive communications from us. Payment of your subscription constitutes a contract with us to send you information about the work of the society, along with the Modernist Cultures journal and equivalent volumes (if you have selected a subscription that gives a physical copy).

Subscriptions to the Association are managed by Edinburgh University Press (EUP), who assume responsibility for the storage of sensitive data. The data is stored securely (two passwords are required to log in, and login details are restricted to Chair, Treasurer, Membership Secretary and Web/IT Officer).

(We don’t store your bank details because payments to the Society are handled by EUP.)

We will only access your contact details in order to write to you about official society matters such as elections. The information is not shared via any third-party sites (e.g. Dropbox) of which the security can’t be guaranteed.

Engagement with our online presences that are not connected to membership of the society (Twitter, Facebook, JISCmail list) does not lead us to acquire or store any data. You can unsubscribe from these services yourself at any time.

If you want to amend information we hold about you, see what information we hold about you, or delete information that we hold about you, then you should contact the Data Controller. This is part of the role of Web/IT Officer, and is currently held by Andrew Frayn (a.frayn@napier.ac.uk).
